Eric Rodenbeck is founder and creative director of Stamen Design. The San Francisco based agency is specialised in spectacular mapping and data visualisation technologies. In 2006, the agency became famous for its collaboration with the social bookmark service Digg, resulting in visualisation projects such as Digg Labs or Digg Swarm. Their objective is to give community users a real time access to the activities of other Digg members and as a result facilitate a deeper access to information. The agency's expertise is further demonstrated by its large number of research projects, such as the Oakland Crimespotting project which aims to open up new views on criminality in urban areas. Parallel to this, Stamen works for clients such as BMW, Yahoo or the American TV broadcaster MSNBC, for whom they recently developed an interactive hurricane tracker.
